"Brett Myers wanted to pound the strike zone in his second spring start, and he did.
Myers was so effective during his three-inning outing during a 10-8 defeat to the New York Yankees, he threw another 20 pitches on the side.
Myers threw 41 pitches (32 for strikes) in allowing two runs on five hits. He also broke out his curveball in a game for the first time this spring.
"It was pretty good," Myers said. "If you'd have seen me trying to throw it the other day in the bullpen, I probably didn't make three to the plate.
"I was happy to be able to get the arm slot down and be able to throw it."
The Yankees were swinging so freely, Myers lamented not getting in enough work on spotting his fastball."
