New Sabres GM Tim Murray did the media circuit today, including talking with SN590 The Fan in Toronto. While on that show, he indicated that the "interim" tag attached to head coach Ted Nolan may soon be removed.

Highlights on what he said about Nolan:

"He doesn't have to audition. He's our coach. I think that we in this game, we judge and get judged every day, but we may talk to him shortly about his future ... right now I'm happy with Teddy. I'm happy with the effort and we need some better players to carry it through."

Is the interim tag still on Nolan?

"Today it is," Murray said. "Right now it is, yes. I talked to Pat [LaFontaine] like twice for 15 minutes yesterday and today. I went into his office today just to finalize my contract. So yes, the interim tag is still on but I could see where we probably will so something for him there where it won't be going on too long."
