Missouri junior Zach Price has been indefinitely suspended from the Tigers’ basketball team after he was arrested twice Thursday on suspicion of assaulting his roommate and another person.

Price, 20, was arrested the first time at 2:31 a.m. about one hour after an incident in the area of Stadium Boulevard. He allegedly was involved in an altercation with his roommate, a 23-year-old male, and a 23-year-old female, according to Columbia Police Sgt. Joe Bernhard.

Price was booked in the Boone County Jail on suspicion of third-degree domestic assault and third-degree assault at that time and was released on $1,500 bond.

He was arrested and booked again later Thursday in the Boone County Jail on suspicion of second-degree domestic assault and second-degree assault for allegedly ramming his vehicle into a car that held the roommate and the same woman on Wednesday afternoon.

Price was released the second time shortly after 7:30 p.m. on $9,000 bond. Boone County prosecutors still were determining whether to file charges for the first arrest when Price was arrested again.

“We’re very disappointed in his actions,” Missouri coach Frank Haith said Thursday afternoon about Price. “We’re still gathering information — been up all night and we’re still working toward finding out what all went on. I can tell that you we’re not real happy and we will discipline accordingly.”

A MU official said Price’s status with the team hadn’t changed following the second arrest.

If assault charges are brought, each third-degree count is a Class A misdemeanor and carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.

Under Missouri law, second-degree assault is a Class C felony punishable by up to seven years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine for each count.

According to Bernhard, a Columbia Police probable cause statement regarding the early Thursday morning incident said Price followed the alleged victims to the area of Stadium Boulevard, where he blocked their vehicle and prevented them from leaving.

Price allegedly punched his roommate in the face and shoved the woman to the ground when she attempted to intervene.
