Defensive end Darius Slade, who rescinded his verbal commitment to Nebraska earlier this week, committed to Michigan State today, according to 247sports.com.

"Committed to Michigan State University," Slade texted the site. "I was a Spartan all along. That's home for me. MSU were my family since day one.”

Slade is rated as a three-star recruit by rivals.com. A 6-foot-5, 237-pounder from Montclair, N.J., he also reportedly had scholarship offers from Arizona State, Georgia, Miami (Fla.), Ohio State, Penn State and West Virginia, among others.

Verbal commitments are nonbinding until national letters of intent are signed Feb. 5. He is the 20th member of the Spartans’ 2014 class.
