MRI for Joba Chamberlain

"Joba Chamberlain went for an MRI on his left oblique to better determine the source of his discomfort, and manager Joe Girardi said he doesn't have a plan for when the right-hander would resume pitching in a game. "Anytime you're dealing with an oblique, there's always a little bit of concern," Girardi said.

Chamberlain last pitched Friday, and reported soreness to the team Sunday. He came in for treatment early Tuesday and spoke with Girardi.

"Joba said that functionally, he's fine," Girardi said. "But I think they might give him a couple of extra days."

Like the improving Sergio Mitre (sore left side) who is scheduled to throw a bullpen session today, Chamberlain would throw a side session before getting into another game. On Tuesday, Mark Prior resumed throwing on flat ground after missing Monday night's game because of flu-like symptoms."
