Jose Mourinho intends to keep Terry as club skipper but told the centre-half he is “not safe” despite his key role in the club’s glory years.

And as the Blues boss outlined the quality he envisages Wayne Rooney can bring , he laid it on the line for Terry and striker Fernando Torres.

Mourinho said: “John’s not safe and he knows he’s not safe. The only thing he knows is safe is our friendship.
