Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be back in action for Manchester United later this month after manager Jose Mourinho played down talk of the Swede leaving for LA Galaxy.

Mourinho opened the door to Ibrahimovic's departure last week by revealing that United would not stand in the veteran striker's way if he wanted to end his career in Major League Soccer.

However, he insists that the player has not mentioned the move to him and hopes Ibrahimovic will return from a knee injury when United face Seville in the Champions League last 16 on February 21.

Ibrahimovic only made seven appearances – including two starts – after his comeback from a ruptured cruciate ligament in November before experiencing more problems with the knee.

'I saw him every day,' said Mourinho. 'I am not working directly with him. For example, today I was watching his work.

'He never mentioned absolutely anything to me, not an opinion, comment nothing at all, so I presume nothing is true in the news because I would probably be first to know from him. So I presume nothing.'
