Mo Williams shrugs off a bad night, but Mike Brown demands a better showing in Game 3

"Less than 48 hours ago, Mo Williams was the toast of the town after his third-quarter dunk sparked the Cavaliers to victory in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Saturday at The Q.

Monday night, fans were booing and screaming for Cavs coach Mike Brown to take him out of the game as the Cavs were crushed by the Celtics, 104-86. Williams made just one of nine shots and missed all four of the 3-pointers he attempted in 34-plus minutes. His counterpart, Rajon Rondo, finished with 13 points and a opponent post-season record 19 assists.

But it was his offense -- or lack of it -- that was the real problem. Williams said the Celtics changed their defensive strategy after his 20 points in Game 1.

"They showed more and stayed longer," Williams said of the Celtics. "Rondo did a good job of staying attached to me, especially when I was off the ball they never left me. I searched for a couple shots, just trying to get it going. I wasn't getting my easy looks.

"But they did a good job. As long as I'm on their minds, I think I'm doing my job."

Williams said he would watch film to try and come up with a counter strategy. But an angry Brown did not mince words.

"He's got to step up, it is as simple as that," Brown said, his voice rising. "It is tough for us to win a series if Mo plays the way he did tonight."

LeBron James stood behind his point guard and indicated everyone needs to step it up.

"We've got to find a way to get Mo free," James said. "Offensively no one was in a good rhythm tonight. We all play well as a team when Mo plays well. I know he's looking forward to the next game."

Tough night: Anderson Varejao had a tough third quarter. He and Kendrick Perkins were assessed double technical fouls with about five minutes left, and then Varejao was called for a flagrant foul on Ray Allen about a minute later. After picking up his second and third personal fouls late in the period, Varejao left the game at the end of the quarter with back spasms and did not return.

He was not available to speak to the media after the game. "
