The Minnesota Wild recalled defenseman Jonas Brodin, a 2010 first-round pick, from the Houston Aeros on Thursday, Jan. 24.

Brodin, 19, underwent surgery to repair a broken collarbone in November and played his first game since recovering with the Aeros on Wednesday night in Milwaukee, a 3-2 win for the Aeros over the Admirals.

The 6-foot-1 defenseman is expected to be available when the Wild play the Red Wings in Detroit on Friday.

Defenseman Jared Spurgeon suffered a foot injury in Minnesota's 4-2 loss to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday, but coach Mike Yeo said the next day that he expected Spurgeon to be available against the Red Wings.

The Wild also have rookie Mathew Dumba available at defense.

Neither Brodin nor Dumba has played an NHL game.
