The Vikings began their bid for Green Bay Packers receiver Greg Jennings on Thursday, March 14, taking the former Pro Bowler to dinner in Minneapolis on the first day of his free-agent visit.

General manager Rick Spielman, coach Leslie Frazier, assistant GM George Paton, offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave and defensive end Jared Allen were among those having dinner with Jennings.

Spielman said the receiver will meet with the team at Winter Park on Friday before he heads home.

"He brought his wife in with him -- he's a very family-oriented player -- and we just want to show him what we have to offer," Spielman said.

The GM wouldn't say if the Vikings were intent on making sure Jennings didn't leave town without a contract, saying, "We'll just have to see how the business side goes."
