Mike Leake recently spent a hot August day cutting grass at a Cincinnati park. While his Reds teammates were preparing for a game, Leake was still paying for his April arrest.

The lawn work was part of Leake's 30 hours of community service, stemming from his highly publicized shoplifting/theft incident April 18 at the downtown Cincinnati Macy's store.

"Anything like that is probably going to mature or humble somebody a little bit," Leake said in a recent interview. "I've got about seven hours (service) left, and then I'm done."
