Mike Green headed into the dressing room after taking part in the first 10 minutes of Capitals’ practice Wednesday morning in Arlington offering a discouraging sign about the defenseman’s health.
Green, who missed Sunday’s 2-1 loss at the Rangers with a lower-body injury, skated for roughly a half hour this morning in full gear but he hasn’t taken part in a full practice since Washington’s morning skate in Tampa Bay on Feb. 14.
“He felt pretty good, we’re going to evaluate him tomorrow. He didn’t want to do too much and we’ll see how he is in the morning,” Coach Adam Oates said. “He felt pretty good; he just didn’t want to be explosive, but he felt fine with everything else.”

Green’s status for Thursday’s game against the New Jersey Devils is uncertain, but despite Oates’s it certainly doesn’t look good at this stage.
Marcus Johansson joined Green for the pre-practice skate but he stepped off the ice just as the full team officially started its workout. Johansson, who hasn’t played since Feb. 7 against Pittsburgh, has missed three games since the team announced he had an upper-body injury.
