Update from today's Detroit Red Wings practice: Forward Pavel Datsyuk and defenseman Mike Commodore weren't on the ice, but at the very least, Datsyuk is not expected to miss much time.
Coach Mike Babcock said Datsyuk has a stiff back from lifting weights Wednesday, but he expects him to play in Saturday's exhibition at Toronto. Commodore has a lower-body injury (Babcock said it's not his groin) and is out a week.
Forward Danny Cleary did practice, albeit wearing a gray sweater, which signifies that no contact allowed. Cleary has an upper-body injury that he said will need six to eight weeks to heal, but he remains hopeful that he can play through the pain and be ready for the Oct. 7 home opener against Ottawa.
