Iverson Fleming scored 21 points, including the game-winning layup, to lift LIU-Brooklyn to a 74-73 win against St. John's at the Barclays Center on Sunday afternoon.

Fleming, a senior guard, scored the game's final five points to get the Blackbirds (7-3) the win. He hit a 3-pointer with 1:24 left to get LIU-Brooklyn to within one and made a tough layup to go with 25 seconds left to give his team the lead. Fleming went 7-for-17 from the floor and hit three of his five 3-point attempts.

Freshman guard Shamorie Ponds led St. John's (5-6) with 18 points, hitting half of his eight 3-point attempts. Ponds added six rebounds and a pair of assists, but his game-winning try clanked off the rim at the buzzer as the Red Storm's three-game winning streak was snapped.

St. John's leading scorer, Marcus LoVett, missed his third consecutive game due to an injured ankle.

Four Red Storm players hit double figures in scoring. Senior forward Darien Williams had 15 points and seven rebounds, junior wing Bashir Ahmed had 14 points and sophomore guard Federico Mussini chipped in 11.

LIU-Brooklyn shot better than St. John's with a 45.2 field goal percentage compared to the Red Storm's 44.2.

Senior forward Jerome Fink had 20 points and 11 rebounds, while junior forward Nura Zanna had 13 points on 6 of 9 shooting and grabbed seven boards.

St. John's will have a week off before facing Penn State Sunday at Madison Square Garden. The Nittany Lions and Syracuse – which St. John's faces Dec. 21 – are the only two games on the schedule before the Red Storm start Big East play.
