It took a while for the Marlins to shake the sleep from their systems Thursday. But hours after losing to the Colorado Rockies the night before, they stormed back in the early matinee to defeat them 8-5 and capture the series, three games to one.

Trailing 5-4 entering the 8th, the Marlins came up with three run-scoring hits with two outs. Christian Yelich tied the score with a single, Giancarlo Stanton put the Marlins ahead with a single of his own, and Casey McGehee added two big insurance runs with another RBI hit.

The Marlins got off to a slow start.

Starting pitcher Jacob Turner struggled, giving up five runs in six innings of work in which he also gave up eight hits and walked three.
