"The Dolphins requested and received permission to speak with Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey about their head coaching job, NFL Network reported Saturday.

The Dolphins are contacting other candidates while awaiting word from top choice Jeff Fisher, who is expected to decide shortly whether to accept an offer from the Dolphins or St. Louis Rams. St. Louis-based radio host Howard Balzer reported Friday that Fisher "is on the verge" of joining the Rams. Fox's Jay Glazer tweeted that he expects Fisher to join the Rams, but it's not done.

NBC's Peter King said Fisher will spend Sunday at the Rams facility as part of a fact-finding mission, then make a decision on Monday or Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins on Saturday completed a two-day interview with Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin."
