The Mets secured some rotation depth this afternoon by signing left-hander John Lannan to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Lannan struggled with the Phillies last season, posting a 5.33 ERA in 14 starts while dealing with a quad injury and a knee injury which required surgery. The 29-year-old Long Island native spent most of 2012 in the minors, as there was no room for him in the Nationals’ rotation, but he owns a 4.12 ERA over 148 starts in the majors.
