Jeremy Hefner didn’t get stronger, he got angrier.

With the Braves getting more quality swings against him than he liked, the Mets right-hander Friday struck out the final six batters he faced in his team’s 5-2 victory at Champion Stadium.

Hefner allowed two earned runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over five innings.

“I got mad more than anything,” said Hefner, the front-runner to take Johan Santana’s rotation spot if the lefty isn’t ready to start the season. “I was less than thrilled with my performance before [the strikeouts].”
