"David Wright, once again left alone to carry his team, is batting .213 in August. Jose Reyes played for the Mets Thursday night - the Binghamton Mets. This pair is imperfect.
Doesn't matter. The team must find a way to keep the left side of its infield intact in 2012, and beyond. Otherwise, the Mets might as well stop existing for a few years. Wright is an excellent player who, despite the multi-year horror movie he has seen, wants to stay. This is worth noting again, after reports Thursday morning that Wright was on waivers this month - a very small deal, by the way, and not the first time he's been on waivers.
As for Reyes, he is an irreplaceable superstar, and worth the injury risk. The National League East competition is reloading, and a New York team keeps its homegrown stars. These two, especially, are worth it."
