According to NFL.com, the 35-year-old former Eagles quarterback was not claimed by any of the other 31 teams in the NFL and is now an unrestricted free agent.

Chicago is McNabb's hometown but they didn't pick up McNabb even though they lost their franchise quarterback, Jay Culter, to injury.

Houston was another team that was thought to perhaps want McNabb. They passed, too.

Chicago decided it's better off with Caleb Hanie. Houston decided it's better off with T.J. Yates.

Not a good day for the former Eagles franchise quarterback.

McNabb started the first six games of the Vikings' season and led the men in purple to a 1-5 record before being benched in favor of rookie Christian Ponder. McNabb has a $5.05 million contract for this season and would have cost a team $1.48 million to claim him off waivers.

On Friday, the Vikings claimed Sage Rosefels off waivers to replace McNabb's roster spot.

Three different teams, respectively, value Rosefels, Hanie and Yates over McNabb.

After spending a tumultuous year with the Washington Redskins, McNabb was traded to the Vikings for a sixth-round pick in 2012 and a conditional sixth-rounder in 2013."
