"When Brian McCann gunned down two baserunners Tuesday night, it was the latest evidence of a growing trend: he's throwing the ball much better.
The five-time All-Star catcher entered the season having thrown out only 22 percent of base-stealers for his career. Entering play on Wednesday, he was up to 30.3 percent for this season, third-best in the National League. Among every day catchers, McCann trailed only the Rockies' Miguel Olivo (41.3) and the Dodgers' Russell Martin (30.8).
McCann attributes it to watching backup catcher David Ross work. Ross has thrown out 56.5 percent of baserunners for his career, including seven of 15 this season."
