Goaltender Marek Mazanec will get the start for Nashville against the Islanders on Tuesday night. It will be Mazanec’s first NHL start. The rookie from the Czech Republic stopped 22 of 24 shots in his NHL debut last Friday in relief of Carter Hutton at Winnipeg.

This will be the first time Hutton won’t start a game since it was announced Pekka Rinne had a hip infection and would be out at least a month.

Mazanec has a 1.97 goals against average and .933 save percentage with the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals.

“It was my first game in the NHL and I thought I played a pretty good game,” Mazanec said of his action at Winnipeg. “It’s helpful for my mind. I think I will feel better today.”

Bourque heads home: At 4 a.m. this morning, forward Gabriel Bourque got a call that his wife was having their first child. Bourque then got in touch with manager of hockey operations Brandon Walker, who got the forward on a 6 a.m. flight back to Nashville to witness the baby’s birth.
