Jason Terry did something Saturday that he rarely does.

"He asked me could he sit tonight," Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said before the game against the Chicago Bulls.

Terry knew Carlisle would sit him one of the final two regular-season games -- either against the Bulls or Thursday against the Atlanta Hawks. Terry, who once played for the Hawks, beat Carlisle to the punch.

"That probably was as big a factor there for sitting out Saturday," Terry said. "I've still got my home there, I've got a lot of friends and family there."
