Matthew Stafford 'doing well,' but QB Shaun Hill to start again for Lions

"Shaun Hill will start again at quarterback for the Lions on Sunday at Minnesota.

"Matt is doing very well in his rehab," was all coach Jim Schwartz would say about the status of starting quarterback Matthew Stafford, who injured his right shoulder at Chicago in Week 1.

Stafford talked briefly with reporters.

"It's going good," he said. "I am just trying to keep my shoulder as strong as possible. Whenever I am ready to go I will play. It feels better."

Stafford still hasn't tried to throw with his right arm. When asked about his range of motion, he raised his right arm over his head. He did not attempt a throwing motion, however, nor did he untie his shoelaces with his right hand.

"They will give me a day whenever they (Lions' medical staff) feel like I am ready to throw and I will start throwing," he said. "After that, we will see. I don't know what the plan will be but it might be just to jump right back into it."

Stafford was one of five starters not participating in practice on Wednesday.

Safety Louis Delmas (groin), receiver Nate Burleson (ankle), linebacker Zack Follett (concussion) and right guard Stephen Peterman (knee) were out. The Lions won't release the official injury report until after 4 p.m."
