Matt Forte, after announcing his retirement last week, will put a ceremonial bow on his career by signing a one-day contract with the Chicago Bears.

The running back spent a decade in Chicago’s backfield before playing two seasons with the New York Jets.

The 32-year-old had one year left on his contract with the Jets, but they were likely to cut him this offseason. Instead, Forte is going out on his own terms and as an honorary member of the team that drafted him back in 2008.
