"Matt Capps has been a closer for most of the past four seasons, but he knows he's in for the biggest challenge of his career: Closing the book on 2011.
The right-hander re-signed with the Twins on Tuesday, accepting a one-year deal with a team option and knowing he has a public relations job ahead of him after going 4-7 with a 4.25 earned-run average.
Capps, 28, flew in and out of the Twin Cities after taking his physical.
"As soon as I got in my truck to leave Minnesota, I knew I wanted to come back," he said. "I don't like to run away from things, and I kind of felt that way about last year. I didn't like the taste I had in my mouth. It is what it is; I had a bad year. It wasn't what the Twins expected. It wasn't what I expected.
"If I leave Minnesota after next year or after 15 years, I want people to remember me as a good pitcher, and that's what I plan to start right now. I know I have my work cut out for me." "
