Following several medical consultations, Jazz forward Marvin Williams has elected to have surgery to repair his sore right heel/Achilles tendon. The procedure will be performed on Monday, June 3 in Charlotte, N.C., by Dr. Robert Anderson, and Jazz assistant trainer Brian Zettler will accompany Williams.

The expected recovery time following surgery is approximately six months.

Williams (6-9, 245, North Carolina) appeared in 73 games (51 starts) for the Jazz in 2012-13, averaging 7.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 23.7 minutes per game. The 26-year-old Jazzman scored in double figures 22 times, including two games with 20-plus points, during his first season in Utah.
