"Can you believe the Seahawks have their first 1,000-yard rusher in six years?
Coach Pete Carroll couldn't when he was informed that Marshawn Lynch had reached the milestone during Sunday's game in Chicago.
"Are you sure?" Carroll asked.
The disbelief had nothing to do with Lynch's performance this season, and everything to do with a game in which Seattle struggled to run the ball.
"We didn't get very many yards today," he said.
Lynch finished with 42 yards rushing, his fewest in a game since October. But that was enough to give him 1,011 this season, making him the first Seahawk since Shaun Alexander in 2005 to reach that mark. Only the Detroit Lions had gone longer without having a 1,000-yard rusher."
