Chicago Cubs manager Dale Sveum said he's considering removing Carlos Marmol from the closer's role after Marmol's latest meltdown in a 4-3, 10-inning loss to Cincinnati.

"I've definitely thought of it now," Sveum said. "I can't lie to you."

Sveum said his "only options" are James Russell and Rafael Dolis.

"That's about it really," he said, leaving out former Cubs closer Kerry Wood, who returned from the disabled list on Thursday but did not pitch. "If we do elect to go with a change, just use matchups."
