With Giancarlo Stanton clearing waivers Tuesday, the Miami Marlins have the opportunity to trade MLB’s home run leader to any club before the Aug. 31 waiver trade deadline if that’s the road the franchise wants to go down.

Speaking on Sportsnet 590 The FAN’s Starting Lineup, MLB Network’s Jon Morosi says the Marlins are at least open to the possibility of moving the star slugger.

“I was told, yesterday in fact, that the Marlins are willing to engage on Giancarlo Stanton, who just might this year be the first player since Roger Maris, outside of those brackets that you might place around Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa, to hit 60 or more home runs,” Morosi said.
