When the Miami Dolphins placed the franchise tag on wide receiver Jarvis Landry late last month, it was immediately noted that the team might look to trade him. That was taken to a whole new level earlier this week when reports broke that the Dolphins have given Landry permission to talk to other teams about a trade.

Since then, the market just has not played out to Landry’s liking. The Carolina Panthers, who were at one point said to be interested in Landry, have since backed off. Meanwhile, this Nola.com reports that the New Orleans Saints themselves are no longer interested in trading for Landry.

A source also tells me that the San Francisco 49ers, who are in need of a wide receiver, have no real interest in trading for Landry. The team selected Trent Taylor in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Taylor plays the same slot position as Landry and caught 85 percent of his targets once Jimmy Garoppolo took over under center in San Francisco.
