"Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira had to leave the Bombers game Tuesday night against the Red Sox in the first inning after being hit in the right knee with a pitch by Boston lefthander Jon Lester.

Teixeira spent more than two minutes on the ground grimacing in pain and had to be helped off the field. The Yankees said X-rays were negative and that Teixeira, diagnosed with a right knee contusion, will be re-evaluated Wednesday.
