Mark Teixeira took seven swings from the left side a couple hours before the Yankees took the field against the Mariners last night.

He began with a grounder to the right side. Then another one.

His next four swings were line drives to right and center field.

He finished the session with a home run to right field, walked out of the batter's box and let manager Joe Girardi know he was ready to go.

Teixeira, who had missed the previous two games with an injured left wrist, returned to the Yankees lineup tonight, batting fourth and playing first base without any setbacks. He went 1-for-4 in the 6-3 victory over the Mariners.

Teixiera, who took a cortisone shot for the wrist, said he felt 'okay.'
