"There was some improvement in Mark Teixeira's jammed right shoulder. Not enough to have the first baseman back in the Yankees' starting lineup last night but enough, with treatment, to have him play tonight.
"That's the plan," said Teixeira, who jammed the right shoulder when he dove for a ball in Tuesday's game but received "tons of treatment" yesterday and last night.
"So get here early, and do some early hitting with Kevin [hitting coach Long] to make sure everything's good, but I'm hoping to play tomorrow."
Big difference from when Teixeira arrived yesterday.
"It's still sore," explained Teixeira, who was replaced at first by Eric Chavez. "I'm not overly worried about it [but] it's still sore. When you jam something, it's going to take a few days to get better but hopefully it's only going to be a few days."
And there's a good chance the Yanks will have another familiar face tonight -- Francisco Cervelli. The catcher who fractured his foot in spring training very possibily could come off the DL today."
