Mark Teixeira, Joe Girardi get in dust-up with Indians over beanball during 11-7 win

"The benches and bullpens emptied at the Stadium Friday night, and David Ortiz wasn't even in the country.

After saying he expected the Yankees to respond positively after being swept by Ortiz and the Red Sox earlier this week, Joe Girardi led the charge out of the dugout - and got into a face-to-face shouting match with Indians manager Manny Acta - after Mark Teixeira was hit in the upper back by a Fausto Carmona fastball that followed Curtis Granderson's home run in the second inning of the Bombers' 11-7 win.

Indeed, it appeared that enough finally was enough.

"Yeah, that's pretty accurate," Alex Rodriguez said. "(The Red Sox) came in here and pretty much embarrassed us on our home field... I'm not sure if the message was sent or not, but I think no matter who we're playing, we can't have teams be so comfortable against us.

"We have enough issues to worry about with our own team, and tonight was a good way to answer back."

Granderson had just rocked a solo homer into the second deck in right with one out in the second, boosting the Yankees' lead to 4-0 after Carmona had walked three in their three-run first.

On his next pitch, Carmona drilled Teixeira with a fastball on the back of his right shoulder, sparking immediate jawing between the two players."
