Mark Teixeira was out of the lineup again Friday night, but the first baseman expects to be back on the field Saturday after sitting out since suffering a strained left calf on Aug. 27.

"They don't want me to play today; it's kind of a group decision," Teixeira said. "Joe (Girardi) & Steve Donohue agreed that when you say you're okay, you're probably saying it too early. Give it one extra day. I would have loved to play today but they just want to be smart."

Teixeira has missed time this year with a wrist injury and the calf issue, but with the Yankees battling the Orioles for the AL East lead, he is itching to get back on the field.

"If I don't play tomorrow, then we're going to have a lot of conversation," Teixeira said. "Today I just said, okay, whatever you guys think is best. Tomorrow I definitely want to play."
