David Bolland means no disrespect.

But he’s been there, done that.

On Monday, the 2013 Chicago Blackhawks will be honoured for their June Stanley Cup victory over the Boston Bruins with a visit to the White House in Washington, where U.S. President Barack Obama will pay tribute to coach Joel Quenneville and his team.

But there will be one member of the NHL champions who will not be on hand for the occasion.

It just happens to be the guy who scored the Cup-winning goal too.

Although he did receive an invite to the festivities in the U.S. capital on Nov. 4, Mimico’s Bolland has politely declined to go.

This, however, is no Tim Thomas-like political statement. Not in the least.
