"Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette reportedly told a few members of the media at the Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards this evening that he does not view slugger Manny Ramirez as a fit with the team.

That meshes with what an industry source told The Baltimore Sun on Friday – that the Orioles as an organization were never close to seriously pursuing Ramirez. It was something that Duquette was vetting, and ultimately he decided not to take it any further.

In fact, the source said the Ramirez discussion never got to the point where a proposal was taken to owner Peter Angelos for approval or even serious debate. And with a player like Ramirez, who has twice tested positive for banned substances, Angelos – or any big-league owner, for that matter -- would have to be on board for a signing to occur."
