"Like Vikings coach Brad Childress and Bengals coach Marvin Lewis before him, Ravens coach John Harbaugh will have to sweat it out for a few days before finding out who the Browns' starting quarterback is going to be next Monday night.
Eric Mangini, still looking for any shred of a competitive advantage, said Monday he'll wait until Wednesday to announce his starting quarterback for the rematch against the Ravens at the stadium.
"I know where I'm headed, but we'll talk about that on Wednesday," he said. "I haven't sat down with the quarterbacks about it yet, so that's part of it. We'll talk about that in conjunction with our work on the Ravens."
Brady Quinn, who might get the chance to redeem himself after getting pulled midway through a 34-3 loss to the Ravens at Baltimore on Sept. 27, said he has "no idea" what will happen.
"I'm looking forward to trying to get better every day and I'll take it day-by-day," he said.
The Browns yanked Quinn after he completed six of eight attempts for 34 yards and one interception. He failed to convert any of his four third-down chances, and the Browns fell behind, 20-0, at the half.
Anderson replaced him and flung the ball around like it was streetball, throwing three interceptions in an effort to try to get back in the game.
But it was a field goal drive at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth that led the Browns to believe Anderson gave them the best chance to move the ball. He converted three of four third downs on the drive, on passes of 22 and 8 yards to Mike Furrey and an 11-yarder to Braylon Edwards.
In 2 1/2 games, Quinn was sacked 10 times. In the ensuing 23 quarters, Anderson has been sacked nine times.
But Anderson, who was plagued by 16 dropped passes over consecutive weeks, hasn't fared any better than Quinn, going 1-4 and residing for weeks at the bottom of the NFL in passer rating, which is currently 36.2. Next-lowest is Oakland's JaMarcus Russell at 48.3. Anderson is also scary bad in fourth-down rating at 3.1, which is woefully behind the next-worst player, Detroit's Matt Stafford at 41.1."
