Man United have agreed a five year contract with Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara according to the Daily Star.

The 22 year old Spanish international is set to become the first major signing of David Moyes’s reign as Old Trafford boss and looks set to be complete this week, with some sources suggesting a deal could be announced as the Scot’s first official press conference on Friday.

The deal is expected to cost Man United a fee of approximately £17m, this being the fee needed to trigger the youngster’s transfer release clause.
