"For a second consecutive day, Detroit Tigers right fielder Magglio Ordonez is not in the club's starting lineup as he deals with inflammation in the bursa sac between his right ankle and heel.

Detroit manager Jim Leyland said Ordonez "was really hurting" on Monday, when the 37-year-old had to leave the Tigers' 2-0 loss to the Texas Rangers. He also left Sunday's loss against the Kansas City Royals.

Brennan Boesch will play today for Ordonez in right, marking his fourth consecutive start.

"Maggs was better (Tuesday), but I'm not playing him today," Leyland. "I'm going to wait until he really feels OK to play."

Leyland said Ordonez likely would become available sometime in the four-game series in Oakland against the Athletics, which begins Thursday."
