"Magglio Ordonez didn't come out of Saturday's 10-6 loss to the Yankees in the sixth just because the Tigers were behind by seven runs at the time.
He came out because he also felt some soreness in the left ankle he broke last year.
The Tigers aren't alarmed, though.
"It was a combination of things," manager Jim Leyland said. "But I don't put much into it."
Leyland did not appear to think the situation was long-term serious or maybe even short term. He didn't even say that Ordonez would, for sure, miss Sunday's game.
But he said it was "doubtful" Ordonez would play.
Then again, Leyland is trying to find playing time at three spots for four outfielders, so it's not surprising that at the first sign of soreness, he'd be on the cautious side."
