Magglio Ordonez heads for some more tests

"Magglio Ordonez will get some answers today - or should.

Ordonez, along with all the medical data about his right ankle, wasn't with the Tigers on Monday for their game against the Blue Jays.

Nor will he be with them tonight for the finale of the brief two-game series. He's in Los Angeles to be examined by Dr. Phillip Kwong, the specialist who operated on Ordonez's fractured ankle last year.

The Tigers don't know if they'll get the findings of the tests before they leave for Boston following tonight's game, but they're eager to find out what's causing the recurring weakness that landed Ordonez on the 15-day disabled list as of May 11.

Before he left, Ordonez said his right ankle had been bothering him "every day."

He didn't elaborate, but when asked about not being able to perform the way he wants, he said that is indeed the situation.

Ordonez is hitting .172 with one home run and five RBIs and has not played a major role in the Tigers' resurgence - they had won 10 of 11 before Monday's 4-2 loss to the Blue Jays..

Before going on the DL, but after the Tigers had fallen to 12-17 after being swept by the Indians, Ordonez was hitting .231 with one run and four RBIs in his last seven games."
