"Magglio Ordoñez's season is finished -- just as he was heating up. During Saturday night's game against the Rangers, the Tigers' rightfielder fractured his ankle -- the same one he had fractured last season and needed surgery to fix.

Detroit's brass didn't say who would replace Ordoñez on the 25-man playoff roster. Manager Jim Leyland planned on meeting with Dave Dombrowski and the coaching staff to decide later Sunday.

Leyland is left without an obvious replacement for Ordoñez in right against the Rangers' three left-handed starters, including Derek Holland today. Left-handed hitting Don Kelly, the obvious replacement in right against right-handers, had only 21 at-bats this season against left-handed pitching."
