Reports out of Louisville Wednesday morning say that Cardinals’ Athletics Director Tom Jurich has been fired. There has been no word on Coach Rick Pitino’s status other than reports he is expected to be fired Wednesday.

Jurich has been relieved of duties pending approval of the university board of trustees, according to Mike Rutherford of Cardchronicle.com and other outlets.

A press conference has been schedule by Louisville at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

After Tuesday’s revelations that the Louisville men’s basketball program was part of a sweeping federal investigation into corruption in college basketball, attention turned Wednesday to how Louisville would respond beyond its brief statement Tuesday afternoon.

Media gathered around Louisville administrative offices Wednesday in anticipation Pitino and Jurich would be meeting with interim university president Gregory Postel.

Jurich met with Postel briefly Wednesday morning and left saying to a reporter that the meeting was good. When asked whether he still had a job, Jurich said, “We’ll be talking later.” Postel later told media gathered that he was “hopeful to report in a little while for you.”
