"The Lions had a little scare early in practice Wednesday.
Running back Kevin Smith and tight end Tony Scheffler collided during a light passing drill. Smith stayed down longer than Scheffler. Both walked off on their own power, though Smith was aided by a trainer.
"Both guys finished practice," coach Jim Schwartz said. "They just ran into each other."
They were running routes, each with a different quarterback. Both wound up on the same side of the field and when Smith turned up field, he crashed into an unsuspecting Scheffler."
