"Quarterback Shaun Hill gave the Lions a chance to win against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
In the end, though, he couldn't complete a late comeback after the Lions scored and recovered an onside kick.
Hill, making his first start since joining the Lions as a backup this offseason, took over the offense this week in place of the injured Matthew Stafford. Hill completed 25 of 45 passes for 335 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in a 35-32 loss to the Eagles at Ford Field.
"As my performance goes I'm pretty simple," Hill said. "I judge myself on wins and losses. We did not win, so therefore my performance wasn't good enough."
Hill led a 15-point rally late in the fourth quarter after trailing 35-17. Hill was 18-of-29 passing for 211 yards in the second half and threw a 19-yard touchdown pass and a two-point conversion to Calvin Johnson with less than two minutes to play to trim the Eagles lead to three.
After the Lions recovered an onside kick, Hill threw four straight incompletions, and the Lions turned the ball over on downs."
