The Rockets took a second consecutive lopsided loss, trailing the Grizzlies by 17 after falling behind by 19 against the Pacers. But guard Jeremy Lin said it is too early after just two losses to believe the Rockets were at the start of a late-season slide that could threaten a playoff spot.

“It’s too soon,” Lin said. “We’re all trying to hang in there. At the end of the day, we have a long way to go. … Right now, there’s a lot of self-evaluation.”

Asik takes issue with earlier call

A day after he was fined $5,000 for flopping last week on a foul by Tim Duncan, Omer Asik was still more upset with the play, also against Duncan, in which he received a warning in December.

“I can’t change it,” Asik said. “I have nothing to say about it. It’s the rules. Just respect the rules.”

Asik argued at the time and again Friday that in December he was just trying to keep his broken nose from being hit.
