Lightning center Cedric Paquette was suspended one game Thursday for boarding Bruins defenseman Torey Krug.

With Paquette out for Saturday’s game against the Sharks at Amalie Arena, the Lightning could decide to call up a forward from AHL Syracuse (such as Cory Conacher) or go 11 forwards and seven defensemen.

The play occurred in the second period of Tampa Bay’s 3-2 loss Wednesday. Paquette got called for boarding when he hit Krug from behind at the boards by the Bruins’ net. The NHL’s Department of Player Safety ruled that Paquette had enough time on his forecheck to avoid or minimize the force of the hit on Krug’s shoulder, as opposed to driving Krug’s head into the boards.

This is Paquette’s first discipline of any kind in 191 career games.
