The phrases were similar in their uniformity.

He had great bedside manner. He wanted to make sure you were OK with his process. Nothing mattered to him more than that patient at that time. He made you feel good. Every experience with him was great.

But maybe nothing describes Dr. Lewis Yocum and his life's work better than five words he was known to regularly utter.

“I love to fix things,” Yocum would say.

Yocum, the Los Angeles Angels' team physician since 1978, died Saturday at age 65, the team announced Tuesday. Yocum was suffering from liver cancer.
